Dahi Vada is a popular snack in India. It is prepared by soaking vadas in thick dahi.So here is the step by step demonstration of the recipe with The Bombay Chef Varun Inamdar only on Rajshri Food.
Ingredients
Dahi wada ( serves 20 pieces)
1 cup urad dal
1 green chili, chopped
½ inch ginger, chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
3 tbsp water for grinding the batter or as required
salt as required
2 tbsp hot oil
Topping
3 cups curd/yogurt
1 tsp chaat masala
½ tsp red chili powder
1 tsp roasted cumin powder
black salt as required
2 tbsp Tamarind chutney
2 tbsp Coriander chutney
Pomegranate seeds
Juliennes of raw mango
Method
- Soak the for 8 hours and then grind them also add some water for consistency.
- Add hing, cumin, salt,chopped ginger and green chillies
-Mix it properly
- Heat oil on moderate flame, add few tablespoons of the heated oil into the batter
-Make lemon size balls of the batter and add them into the oil
-Cook them until they turn golden brown
-Take them off the and put it into a bowl of water
-Whip the plain yogurt
-Place the vadas into the plate top it up with whipped curd, tamarind chutney, coriander chutney, pomegranate seeds,black salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder, juilines of raw mango
- Dahi Vada is ready to be served.
